Is this a Hokkien word?

Hello all,

I am researching a language of the Philippines called Visayan and I'm aware that there are quite a few Hokkien loanwords into Philippine languages.

The Visayan word paypay means 'fan' (pronounced pie pie). Might this have a Hokkien origin? I have no real reason to assume this, but I thought it might be possible considering that Hokkien speakers were trading with the Philippines long before Spanish colonisation in the 16th century and that fans could have been an article of trade.

If it's not Hokkien, is it from another Chinese language?

Many thanks,

Piers
