Is cinema big in China

I actually thought it was 20, although the last time I read about that law was a few years ago and it may have been adjusted.

Cinema is actually very popular in China, especially western movies. You can see that Wanda group which owns the largest cinema chain in China just bought out AMC making them the largest cinema chain in the world. Prices in China are extremely high for movies, usually 100+ rmb for western movies, less for local movies, even more for 3D movies. most people go out on dates to the movies so it is almost all couples in the theater, no kids, which is actually nice compared to america. But etiquette about not talking or using your phone during the movie is non existent

I've always thought it strange the number of couples in China "out on dates" that are paying absolutely no attention to each other, and are instead on their phone.

But they seem to like to tell each other what is happening on screen, despite the fact that everything is happening right before their eyes. And they seem to like to discuss about it on spot.

In Kunming there is a big business in scalping movie tickets. And when they can't get rid of the extras they go and watch with their scalper friends.
