roddy Posted May 17, 2012 at 04:38 PM Report Posted May 17, 2012 at 04:38 PM Hi folks, Been upgrading to the latest version of forums software this afternoon, took a bit longer than planned. There are still a number of issues (search is one) but I've turned us back on for now. If it gets too annoying I'll close it down again till it's properly fixed. Apologies for the distress. roddy Posted May 17, 2012 at 05:28 PM Author Report Posted May 17, 2012 at 05:28 PM Ok, I think everything should be as it was. If you spot any problems (or, ahem, want to remind me of any old ones) let me know. Quote
gato Posted May 18, 2012 at 02:33 PM Report Posted May 18, 2012 at 02:33 PM Under the mobile skin, new thread links are going to the first page rather than the last page like it used to. Quote
roddy Posted May 21, 2012 at 11:00 AM Author Report Posted May 21, 2012 at 11:00 AM Sorry, thought I'd replied to this. This is working fine for me - are you using an old bookmark to get to the new content page directly? That might be the problem. Could you try getting to the home page and then clicking through to new content? If it's not working, can you paste me the actual URL of your new content page? Quote
icebear Posted May 21, 2012 at 01:56 PM Report Posted May 21, 2012 at 01:56 PM If you spot any problems (or, ahem, want to remind me of any old ones) let me know. This forum is too enjoyable and detracts from study time. Ok, I'll pipe down now... Quote
roddy Posted May 21, 2012 at 01:57 PM Author Report Posted May 21, 2012 at 01:57 PM Right, that's icebear banned. Anyone else? 1 Quote
gato Posted May 21, 2012 at 02:05 PM Report Posted May 21, 2012 at 02:05 PM Indeed it was because of an old bookmark. Too smart, Roddy. Quote
roddy Posted May 21, 2012 at 03:26 PM Author Report Posted May 21, 2012 at 03:26 PM To be honest, they really should be making it so that old bookmarks work, or at least tell you that they're not working. I think last update I hacked it to work. Anyway. Quote
jbradfor Posted May 21, 2012 at 03:45 PM Report Posted May 21, 2012 at 03:45 PM Anyone else? No reply button that automatically quotes the text and puts in a reference to the post in which the quote appears. [you asked....] Quote
edelweis Posted May 21, 2012 at 04:31 PM Report Posted May 21, 2012 at 04:31 PM for some reason when I'm using Windows/IE the window title and tab title become #number instead of the title of the thread. It doesn't seem to happen with Linux/Firefox. Quote
roddy Posted May 21, 2012 at 06:38 PM Author Report Posted May 21, 2012 at 06:38 PM I thank Jbradfor for his kind offer to spend the rest of his life editing posts and explaining rules when, every single day, some new registrant quotes seven acres of text and says at the bottom "Yes, I agree." Edelweis, what version of IE are you on? Because hopefully I can blame that. 1 Quote
edelweis Posted May 22, 2012 at 10:28 AM Report Posted May 22, 2012 at 10:28 AM It's IE7, the issue appears when I click on the front page to go to the latest unread post in a thread. The title is actually #comment-NNNNN. Not a big deal actually, but I don't recall ever having this issue before the last forum upgrade. Quote
roddy Posted May 23, 2012 at 11:31 AM Author Report Posted May 23, 2012 at 11:31 AM I shall pop round later and upgrade you to IE8. To be honest I'm not sure what the problem is, but my suspicion is an IE bug. Quote
jbradfor Posted May 24, 2012 at 09:09 PM Report Posted May 24, 2012 at 09:09 PM I've noticed there are now "warning points" next to my name in blog comments? [And shockingly mine is currently "0".] Want to tell us about this new feature? Quote
roddy Posted May 24, 2012 at 09:20 PM Author Report Posted May 24, 2012 at 09:20 PM Oh, is that there? I should edit that out I guess. It's an old feature, I've already hidden it from view on forum posts, they must have added it in there. Is it just next to your name, or everyone's? Quote
jbradfor Posted May 24, 2012 at 09:44 PM Report Posted May 24, 2012 at 09:44 PM Just by my name -- my reputation proceeds me. Quote
Lu Posted May 25, 2012 at 02:12 PM Report Posted May 25, 2012 at 02:12 PM I hadn't gotten around to complaining that the quote button wasn't working for me (you know, the one that gives you [ quote ] and [ / quote ] in one click) and now it's already working again. Thanks! Quote
roddy Posted November 21, 2012 at 02:55 PM Author Report Posted November 21, 2012 at 02:55 PM Going to need to upgrade the site (minor upgrade, shouldn't be little if anything in the way of noticeable changes) at some point today / tomorrow. Should be fairly smooth but could be some downtime. Roddy Quote
roddy Posted November 21, 2012 at 07:38 PM Author Report Posted November 21, 2012 at 07:38 PM Ok, took a few hours but I think we're done. Quote
roddy Posted November 21, 2012 at 08:03 PM Author Report Posted November 21, 2012 at 08:03 PM Ok, emoticons need fixed. Will get to that tomorrow... Quote
