zhouhana Posted May 22, 2012 at 10:00 AM Report Share Posted May 22, 2012 at 10:00 AM I'm maintaining a page with the title "The ultimate list of Xiamen cafes for work, study, and meetups" (http://www.swedesinchina.com/ultimate-list-xiamen-cafes-work-study-meetups), and would like to split it up in an English and a Mandarin version. How would I translate the title into Mandarin? (If "the ultimate list of" sounds to braggy for Chinese minds, please suggest more suitable wording.) Too much grammar in one sentence for me ... medivhsteve Posted May 22, 2012 at 05:06 PM Report Share Posted May 22, 2012 at 05:06 PM Why not translate "the ultimate list of" to "名册大全"? And for the whole sentence, we can put it like "适合工作、学习与社交的厦门咖啡厅名册大全", or more like Chinese speaking, "工作、学习与社交的圣地——厦门咖啡厅名册大全". But the second one has changed part of the meaning and sounds more attactive like ads. By the way, "meetup" is hard to find a exactly word to match and the direct translation reads stange, so I use the word "社交"-“social contact” which is more common used in China though it has a wider meaning than just "meetup".
