skylee Posted May 22, 2012 at 12:10 PM Report Share Posted May 22, 2012 at 12:10 PM TVB in Hong Kong is reporting that its programme has won a George Foster Peabody Award. I am not usually interested in these kinds of things, but the name of the programme (see the title) caught my attention because it sounded so bad. Some websites say that the videos of this programme have been banned in China. I don't know if its true. But you can watch it on youtube, etc. Take a look. Youtube part 1, part 2 Tudou Sypnosis of the programm on TVB's website (in Chinese)
jbradfor Posted May 22, 2012 at 05:34 PM Report Share Posted May 22, 2012 at 05:34 PM The English translation is quite interesting. The Chinese title seems pretty bland, while the English translation seems to be a direct mocking of the mainland, and somewhat inflammatory. I assume TVB did the translation?
kdavid Posted May 23, 2012 at 04:01 AM Report Share Posted May 23, 2012 at 04:01 AM Youtube part 1, part 2 I only listened to the first 30 seconds, but that's Cantonese, right?

kdavid Posted May 23, 2012 at 05:17 AM Report Share Posted May 23, 2012 at 05:17 AM I'd love to watch this in Mandarin, with either simplified or English subtitles. While I'm learning traditional, I don't want to spend the time pausing and playing while I look up new characters. If anyone comes across such a copy, please let us know here. skylee Posted May 23, 2012 at 05:54 AM Author Report Share Posted May 23, 2012 at 05:54 AM You might wish to note that while the narrative is in Cantonese, all the interviews are in Mandarin (because the interviewees are all mainlanders).
