JennyQin Posted May 22, 2012 at 12:41 PM Report Posted May 22, 2012 at 12:41 PM I will be an official OPI (Oral Proficiency Interview) tester soon and I am now looking for 5-6 learners of Chinese to rate. If you have learned Chinese for more than 3 years and are curious about your level of Chinese, please email me (qinxizhen@hotmail.com) and set up a time for the test. It is a phone interview and will take 20-30 minutes. I will initiate the call. Thanks for your attention! Quote
roddy Posted May 22, 2012 at 01:10 PM Report Posted May 22, 2012 at 01:10 PM Was going to move this to classifieds, but then I thought, wouldn't it be fun if you recorded the conversations and your evaluations and posted them here! Quote
JennyQin Posted May 22, 2012 at 02:29 PM Author Report Posted May 22, 2012 at 02:29 PM It is a good idea. But I should get the testees' approval first I guess. Quote
hbuchtel Posted May 26, 2012 at 04:21 AM Report Posted May 26, 2012 at 04:21 AM I did the phone interview several days ago and quite enjoyed it. Did anybody else on the forum volunteer? I'm fine with having a recording of my interview posted here, hopefully with Ms. Qin's comments, but there might be a problem with the file size, as the OPI interviews "typically last 20-30 minutes". Any suggestions? 1 Quote
edelweis Posted May 26, 2012 at 02:07 PM Report Posted May 26, 2012 at 02:07 PM Send an MP to Roddy, I'm sure he'll sort something out. I'm looking forward to listening to your interview (not sure I'll understand much though). Could you please give us a summary of your Chinese learning history? (I mean, in English) Quote
hbuchtel Posted May 27, 2012 at 04:01 AM Report Posted May 27, 2012 at 04:01 AM I'll post a summary later - right now I'm still waiting for a copy of my recording. I also want to take a listen and maybe make a few cuts, as I recall that during the self-introduction part I mentioned a few personal things I wouldn't want on a public forum. Hopefully others will post theirs as well! It would be best if we could have a wide variety of levels. Quote
hbuchtel Posted April 8, 2013 at 04:18 PM Report Posted April 8, 2013 at 04:18 PM Thanks to CEO兼董事长 Roddy, here is the recording of my American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Oral Proficiency Interview mentioned above. http://www.chinese-f...les/henrysu.wav (10MB .wav file, 40 minutes) The interviewer's comments were: I will rate your case as a superior. You can handle most formal and informal settings and talk about the wide range of public interest topics and some special fields of interest and expertise. You can discuss topics concretely and abstractly as well as support your opinions. There is no pattern of error in the basic language structures. The communication goes very smoothly. The guidelines for each level of proficiency are listed here: http://www.languaget...g.com/scale.htm 1 Quote
