lonny tao Posted May 30, 2012 at 05:26 PM Report Share Posted May 30, 2012 at 05:26 PM I have a chinese pot with bamboo sticks inside. The sticks have a Chinese number on it. Some sticks have only a number, others have a number with a Chinese charakter. I can read the Chinese numbers, but the characters, I don`t know what they mean. Anybody can tell me? On the picture are four sticks, all sticks have a number with other characters. And these sticks, where is it used for? I was thinking for future prediction or something? I believe you need also a book with it but I don`t have that. Lonny

edelweis Posted May 30, 2012 at 07:44 PM Report Share Posted May 30, 2012 at 07:44 PM You're correct, this is not the usual way to write twenty and thirty. Many Chinese characters and words have variants
liuzhou Posted June 24, 2012 at 09:33 AM Report Share Posted June 24, 2012 at 09:33 AM You're correct, this is not the usual way to write twenty and thirty. The alternatives 廿 (niàn) and 卅 (sà) are often used in newspapers (to save space) and on calendars. http://www.liuzhou.c...age.htm#numbers
