Sometimes not sure what part of word the teacher is correcting

Often when the teacher corrects my pronunciation, I'm not sure if its the tone, initial or final. So, I might think its the tone and say it again adjusting the tone when actually she was correcting the initial consonent. Anyone else run into this?
