yakeyglee Posted June 6, 2012 at 01:11 AM Report Posted June 6, 2012 at 01:11 AM How would one say a word like "interconnectedness" in Chinese? (I know it's not technically a word, as my browser is underlinig it in red as I type this, though you get the idea.) Would it be 聯繫性? For instance, if I wanted to say "Every day, the world is reaching higher levels of interconnectedness.", could I say "每天世界提高自己的聯繫性."? Quote
malanting Posted June 6, 2012 at 02:41 AM Report Posted June 6, 2012 at 02:41 AM No. Never heard of 聊繁性 before. Maybe 联系性 or 关联性. Every day, the world is reaching higher levels of interconnectedness. You can say 每天世界都变得越来越小. Becoming smaller conveys the same message and is what we usually say. Or 每天世界都变得更加紧密 if you want to be more specific. 1 Quote
imron Posted June 6, 2012 at 02:50 AM Report Posted June 6, 2012 at 02:50 AM 聯繫性 is 联系性, not 聊繁性 I think you need to provide more context on what you mean to express. For example, are you meaning to say that everything is becoming more connected in an online network kind of sense, or a financial markets/global economy sense, etc etc. Quote

What I had in mind was in terms of communication, in that it's getting easier and easier for us to communicate with people all over the world as time goes on. Quote
malanting Posted June 6, 2012 at 03:10 AM Report Posted June 6, 2012 at 03:10 AM 聯繫性 is 联系性, not 聊繁性 Sorry. My ability to read traditional Chinese sucks. But I can tell most characters in an article. Taken out of context ,they just look so similar to 聊繁  Quote

Then you may want to take a look at the sentences I provided. Quote
