This section is a sort of "resume" of the main character. 回忆起来，他是在一次师后勤战线学习与业务大比拼的活动中，因为不仅能一字不差的背下来２８６条毛主席语录和《为人民服务》、《纪念白求恩》、《愚公移山》三篇经典文章，而且还能在三十分钟间，连挖灶、切菜在内，完成色香味俱佳的四菜一汤的迫切任务，而一举重榜，被师长挑挑拣拣选调到了师长家里，做了师长家的专职公务员兼专职炊事员。 What kind of "competition" are we talking about?
