How do you type the "!" and "!?" characters on OS/X?

If you type them individually they take up two characters, I often see people somehow enter them as a single character, with the bonus they take up less space and look nicer.

Is this possible with the standard Mac built-in IME's? Or with some other IME?

If your IME lets you enter raw character codes, ⁈ has code 2048 and ⁉ 2049 (hexadecimal).

⁇ 2047, ‼ 203c.
