How to Say in Mandarin: TOEIC, BEC, BULATS, Versant

Hi,

I am trying to contact universities in China regarding English certification exams such as the TOEIC, BEC, Versant, and BULATS, however, I am not sure how to say these exams in Mandarin. If a more fluent Mandarin speaker could help me out in translating these tests into Chinese, it would be very helpful. I cannot read characters, but I can read pinyin.

TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) - Educational Testing Service (ETS)

http://www.ets.org/toeic/

BEC (Business English Certificate) - Cambridge ESOL

http://www.cambridge...nary/index.html

BULATS (Business Language Testing Service) - Cambridge ESOl

http://www.cambridge...lats/index.html

Versat - Pearson

http://www.versanttest.com/

I am not too sure, but these might be how you say some of them:

TOEIC - Tuō yè kǎoshì

BULATS - Bósī kǎoshì

Your help is very much appreciated!

Hey Jbradfor,

Thanks for your suggestion, that is actually a great idea. I have found that this is how you say the following tests:

TOEIC – Tuō yè kǎoshì

BEC – Jiànqiáo shāngwù Yīngyǔ kǎoshì or just B-E-C

BULATS – Bósī kǎoshì

However I am still missing Versant and that test does not have a wikipedia page in chinese.

The other thing that often helps is to do a Google search for the English name of the test/word alongside a chinese character that is likely to appear in any relevant results, e.g.

Versant 考试.

This turns up a number of results, the most relevant seems to be official administrators guide in Chinese from the company itself.

In that document, it refers to the name of the test using English 'Versant' (despite translating the name of the company), which to me indicates it is quite likely there is no official translation. You could always contact the company and ask if they have a translation for the test.

In the meantime, Versant考试 is likely to be acceptable usage when discussing it in Chinese.
