grashopa99 Posted July 9, 2012 at 06:07 AM Report Share Posted July 9, 2012 at 06:07 AM Has anyone tried out the OSX apps in the app store for Chinese?
mikelove Posted July 10, 2012 at 07:34 AM Report Share Posted July 10, 2012 at 07:34 AM To be honest, the Mac App Store's selection of Chinese apps is rather spotty at the moment - an awful lot of the best ones aren't there. Wenlin is the gold standard in Mac (and Windows) Chinese dictionary apps but isn't available in the App Store - the excellent [chinese mac] page lists some others but again none of them are in the App Store. For flashcards, Anki and Mnemosyne are both free, Mac-friendly, and have strong community support. (also, make sure to look at web-based Chinese learning software options like Skritter - there are a number of needs that are better served by web apps than native ones at the moment)
icebear Posted July 10, 2012 at 10:23 AM Report Share Posted July 10, 2012 at 10:23 AM I'd recommend Chinese Reader, which is currently in beta and free. Helps a great deal with reading articles, especially if you have a list of the words you've learned already (or, similarly, use Skritter - which it integrates with). mnanon Posted July 16, 2012 at 02:45 AM Report Share Posted July 16, 2012 at 02:45 AM What are some apps that are great for Windows? With Vmware Fusion being rather stable, they might run through that.
