Getting books through customs

Recommended Posts

Posted

In preparation for my move to China, I've been buying a lot of books to bring with me. Last time I was living in China books were the one thing I think I missed the most. I didn't bring that many in with me the first time, although I got a few in which I knew were banned. My stuff wasn't searched at all. I'm worried this time that bringing in a large number of books might raise some eyebrows if customs does decide to go through my bags. Anyone have any strategies for getting 10 or so books through customs? Should I maybe distribute them throughout my luggage? Hide them even?Has anyone here ever actually had books confiscated? I'll be so annoyed if my books get taken!
