和平後代 (Peaceful Descendant)

Peaceful Descendant is the hebrew meaning for my son's name (Noah Jordan), however the hebrew translation looks weird so I decided that I may want chinese lettering instead. Some of the traditional translations I have found online say that Peaceful Descendant translates into 和平後代 and vice versa, however some of them said that 和平後代 translated into "a peaceful generation".

My son passed away so I would really like a more definate answer. Could anyone please assist me?

Is there a good reason to pick hebrew? If there is, use hebrew even if it looks wierd at least it has meaning to you. Why is there any better reason to pick chinese?

With chinese, tranlations of names is not as straight forward as it might seem.

You have 2 choices: transliteration which is choosing chinese characters that make the same sounds as the name but are meaningless or mean something you wouldn't expect.

Or you could have translation, this is where you actually translate the name in to chinese but this is much more difficult to do correctly.

I notice you have also asked about a tattoo in another post, the same comments I made for that apply here too.

People here are very good about helping with translations, but you should still be very carefull about what you decide to do if you can only ask random people on the internet

.

If you have any chinese connections or friends ask them too before you decide.

But be very sure before you do anything permanent.

Good luck

Well, Hebrew, was not chosen by me; it is simply the origin of the meaning for my child's name (Noah Jordan). I did not like the hebrew text, but I do like the chinese. I am actually thinking about changing it to my native language (enlgish), with a nice font. I thank you for the input, however I am not looking to translate his name; I was looking for verification of a translation of his name's meaning.
