New Members StormofSwords Posted July 19, 2012 at 08:58 PM New Members Report Share Posted July 19, 2012 at 08:58 PM So I was lying down with my gf when she got a message from a guy with the words "love you" in it. She hid her phone and I didn't think much of it until she did the same thing again. Today she put on makeup before work, then didn't come home until around midnight but couldn't say where she's been. Please help me translate and I will fill you guys in on any new information. This is the "love you" message, but I think It's not bad... This one I'm more worried about because she acted really weird afterwards... And this one I'm just a little curious about..
马盖云 Posted July 29, 2012 at 04:31 AM Report Share Posted July 29, 2012 at 04:31 AM My attempt: (these are traditional characters, I am more fluent in simplified characters, and the font is a bit funky and blurry) Doesnt sound too damning, but not enough context. Really not sure what some of it means, so I went with word for word literal... "She doesnt want to hurt me" "Still love you" ____ "Deleting (it?) is OK!" ____ "my love is not expensive (valuable, costly)"! ____ "Lian nightclub protect(safeguards) (what) I all towards him have said" "Ha ha ha" __ {Lian may be a name of a club? Or if not, when used at the start of a sentence, can mean 'even"} (2nd photo:) (literal) I just really appreciate(enjoy, admire) you here occupy (sieze) so maybe: I really just enjoy you staying here (?) (3rd photo:) chicken doesnt lay egg, bird doesnt shit. (your guess is as good as mine!
edelweis Posted July 29, 2012 at 06:27 AM Report Share Posted July 29, 2012 at 06:27 AM My interpretation is a little less innocent... "you (female) must not harm me" "I still love you" "erase/forget about it and it will be fine" (perhaps: "I will erase it, no harm done") "my love is not worth money. I even told him about the nightclub security/insurance (?) haha" "that's just what I admire about you" For the last one I agree with 马盖云's interpretation. Now you must tell us what happened next. skylee Posted July 29, 2012 at 08:29 AM Report Share Posted July 29, 2012 at 08:29 AM Is it generally acceptable to look at the contents of the phone messages of one's gf/bf or spouse or partner and then put them on the internet?
edelweis Posted July 29, 2012 at 09:31 AM Report Share Posted July 29, 2012 at 09:31 AM I think some teenagers would say it is. We grown ups frown upon such disgusting behaviour of course. Reminds me of a new word I learned recently: Schadenfreude.

skylee Posted July 29, 2012 at 11:35 AM Report Share Posted July 29, 2012 at 11:35 AM The 還 probably does not mean still. It probably refers to something the other person said which had gone beyond what was expected/allowed, to the extent (還) that "love you" was included.
Lu Posted July 30, 2012 at 09:23 AM Report Share Posted July 30, 2012 at 09:23 AM Is it generally acceptable to look at the contents of the phone messages of one's gf/bf or spouse or partner and then put them on the internet? If one feels the need to do this, I'd say the snooper might as well just end the relationship because clearly there is a serious lack of trust. Actually even without the texts, what kind of relationship is it where one of the partners is away all night but doesn't want to say where she's been?
