Hey Guys,

I got a tattoo a year back and it has come to my attention that it may not mean what i am under the impression of. I asked for a tattoo that mean Family Honour Pride, and this is what i got..

Is it close atleast...If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated

It looks like Japanese, which I don't understand much of, so I can't say whether it means what it is supposed to mean, but judging by the penmanship, I wouldn't hold out much hope for the meaning.

Definitely not Chinese. It looks like random squiggles, but try taking it over to Hanzi Smatter. They are the experts.

But be warned. If it turns out to nonsense, they will ridicule you for not checking the meaning BEFORE getting the tattoo.

I'm only a novice in Japanese, but it looks like 名(?)と生きる - I can't make out the second kanji, and I don't know what the whole thing means. Sorry!

It's 名誉. The full phrase is 名誉と生きる. "Live with honor".

You can't really say 名誉と生きる in Japanese because that と doesn't make sense.

Live together with honour. Like a self-righteous roommate always telling you what to do.
