New Members ogmios Posted August 5, 2012 at 10:18 PM New Members Report Share Posted August 5, 2012 at 10:18 PM Hi, I am unable to read Chinese text and in this case I am also unable to use translator as the text is hand-written. The only word I've found is perhaps "永远" - "always, forever"; rest is unknown to me. Please help.

imron Posted August 6, 2012 at 12:50 PM Report Share Posted August 6, 2012 at 12:50 PM I'm not sure however that this translation captures the negative connotation of 痕迹 so well.
OneEye Posted August 6, 2012 at 01:05 PM Report Share Posted August 6, 2012 at 01:05 PM I don't think it's necessarily always negative. For example, a sentence I've seen the word in recently was 「在古代造字的初期,大部份的漢字的確是象形的,但是到了後來,象形字只佔漢字的一小部份,並且演變到了楷書就難看到象形的痕跡了。」 Without more context for the note the OP posted, I tried to be more neutral in my translation. imron Posted August 6, 2012 at 01:45 PM Report Share Posted August 6, 2012 at 01:45 PM Just remember that 'traces' could possibly also mean 'scars', depending on context.
