New Members hawks237 Posted August 7, 2012 at 06:27 AM New Members Report Posted August 7, 2012 at 06:27 AM Hi, I am looking for a program to study Chinese. I have recently graduated from University in America. I would like to study in Southern China somewhere. I have a small base of Chinese already under my belt, about four months of study. I would like to be put in a situation where I am forced to use my Chinese on a daily basis. I would like to study for about another year in hopes to improve my Chinese. I would be interested to know in particular school names or places. Thanks! Quote

anonymoose Posted August 7, 2012 at 06:25 PM Report Posted August 7, 2012 at 06:25 PM Xiamen University is quite popular and the environment is relatively good. I don't have personal experience though. Quote
New Members hawks237 Posted August 8, 2012 at 03:48 AM Author New Members Report Posted August 8, 2012 at 03:48 AM I want to study in Southern China because I want to study in and explore a city away from the normal choices of Beijing, Shanghai, or Hong Kong. I also heard the scenery was beautiful and I am kind of a amateur naturalist. Quote
chiappa Posted August 8, 2012 at 12:08 PM Report Posted August 8, 2012 at 12:08 PM My friend studied in the Xiamen university and I have visited there. The campus is really nice. You'll get the conventional chinese teachings there of course:) Students face the teacher and so on... As for nature, it's still a big city and I'm surprised it's considered the cleanest city in China.. Ocean is too polluted to swim in and I'm not sure about the air either... +streets are pretty much like anywhere else. But it's a fun place, not too crowded, warm... Probably you have better chances of finding some nature from there. Quote
