WuZhi Posted February 7, 2005 at 05:12 PM Report Posted February 7, 2005 at 05:12 PM I am trying to learn how to type Chinese and send email to my contacts in Chinese. I bought a KimShan software while I was in China month ago. The software turned out to be defective and I cannot instal and use it. Does some one have a free shareware for me to learn how to type or translate my compostion. Any advise will be helpful. You may contact me at yushan416@yahoo.ca. Hsia hsia. Quote

Haoqide Posted February 7, 2005 at 08:56 PM Report Posted February 7, 2005 at 08:56 PM Or if you have Windows XP Pro, try this: http://www.chrissimpson.com/tutorial1.html That's what I use. I've only gotten it to work with simplified Chinese so far, so if you're wanting to do traditional, you may want to go another route. Quote
woliveri Posted February 7, 2005 at 09:22 PM Report Posted February 7, 2005 at 09:22 PM yes, IME is free with the OS and I have my to type simplified Characters. But then, It determines what font you are using to write the characters. That is, the search function for each character is in Simplified but when I hit enter in Word, MSN Messenger, etc, if the font in one of those environments is traditional then the characters will be traditional.
