Ian_Lee Posted February 8, 2005 at 08:03 PM Report Posted February 8, 2005 at 08:03 PM Just interested in surveying how many holidays are given for Lunar New Year. According to what I read: (Please correct me if it is wrong) China: 7 days Taiwan: 7 days Hong Kong: 3 days Singapore: 2 days Malaysia: 2 days Vietnam: 3 days (some offices close for 7 days) South Korea: 3 days (some companiese have more days off) North Korea: 3 days (you won't believe it but that is what South Korean newspaper said) New York State: 1 day (State holiday starting this year as reported by some Chinese newspapers; need verification) Any others? yan Posted February 9, 2005 at 12:03 AM Report Posted February 9, 2005 at 12:03 AM Mongolia: 3 days dates can differ from the date for 春节, though (not this year, but last year they did). Quote
wiz_oz Posted February 14, 2005 at 12:43 PM Report Posted February 14, 2005 at 12:43 PM Brunei 1 day Australia 0 day Quote
wushijiao Posted February 14, 2005 at 01:48 PM Report Posted February 14, 2005 at 01:48 PM People in China have to usually work the weekends before and after Spring Festival. So the 7 days isn't as great as it may seem. Quote
Bamboo Grove Posted February 17, 2005 at 03:53 AM Report Posted February 17, 2005 at 03:53 AM In Thailand it varies. Companies owned by Chinese tend to have 7-10 days off whereas Thai and Western companies have 1-3. The official figure, I think, is only one day. Quote
