Zhende ma? Posted February 10, 2005 at 06:24 PM Report Share Posted February 10, 2005 at 06:24 PM Just a quick question. What's the MW for 队? Is it 群?
marcopolo79 Posted February 10, 2005 at 06:50 PM Report Share Posted February 10, 2005 at 06:50 PM I don't think numbers are usually associated with lines, usually people say 排隊 when they mean to form a line and that there is a line, if you wanted to say that people formed several lines (honestly, how often does this happen in the mainland?) I think 排幾隊 would be fine, in this case 隊 functions as a MW itself.
Zhende ma? Posted February 10, 2005 at 06:58 PM Author Report Share Posted February 10, 2005 at 06:58 PM Can't 队 also mean "team". Is there a MW in this circumstance?
Jose Posted February 10, 2005 at 07:12 PM Report Share Posted February 10, 2005 at 07:12 PM I think 個 is the usual MW for 隊 as "team", so 一個隊, 這個隊,and so on.
marcopolo79 Posted February 10, 2005 at 07:24 PM Report Share Posted February 10, 2005 at 07:24 PM I agree with Jose, I think I've only ever heard 個 used with 隊伍, 群 wouldn't apply to members of a team, the relationship between team members is too specific to be described as a general group of people. xiaocai Posted February 11, 2005 at 10:25 AM Report Share Posted February 11, 2005 at 10:25 AM I think 隊 it self can be a MW or a noun. In order to distinguish that, the two syllables word 隊伍 is often used just like 一個隊伍. If you use 群 as the MW of 隊, for example, 一群隊伍, may be a little bit weird but still acceptable in my opinion. Other MWs like 隻 or 路 are also appropriate, but 個 is the best choice, simple and proper.

Quest Posted February 11, 2005 at 10:18 PM Report Share Posted February 11, 2005 at 10:18 PM 一行 or 一列 队
gato Posted February 11, 2005 at 11:19 PM Report Share Posted February 11, 2005 at 11:19 PM For line/queue, I usually say "一条队". It sounds the most natural to me.
