Ludens Posted September 21, 2012 at 01:34 AM Report Posted September 21, 2012 at 01:34 AM Does anyone know if it's possible to buy vegan multivitamins in China? I can't find anything trustworthy online, but I might be missing something. I'm used to taking these ("veg-1"): http://www.vegansociety.com/lifestyle/nutrition/multivitamins-and-minerals-lists.aspx If it's not possible to buy something similar in China, I'd like to take a 2-year supply with me on the plane. Is this allowed, or will these likely be removed from my luggage during border controls? I'll be arriving on a 90 day visa (hopefully, otherwise a 30 day visa), so bringing 2 years worth of vitamins could be seen as suspicious. A third option would be to send them by post once I arrived in China, but I'm not sure if this is allowed, and if so, if there will be any import charges. Any ideas welcome, thanks! Quote
count_zero Posted September 21, 2012 at 02:50 AM Report Posted September 21, 2012 at 02:50 AM Your veganism is clearly reached the point of a religious belief if you can't even take vitamin tablets with trace amounts of animal products. You simply will not be able to sustain this kind of lifestyle in China. Having said that, I bought Jarrow brand multi 1-to-3 at the World Health Store in Beijing. The ingredients state no fish/shellfish. They are not gelatin tablets so I guess they are vegan - I could be wrong! 1 Quote
liuzhou Posted September 21, 2012 at 07:12 AM Report Posted September 21, 2012 at 07:12 AM No one is going to even look in your luggage, never mind confiscate anything. Bring them with you if you can't live without them. There shouldn't be any problem posting them either. I've had more suspicious medications sent by post without problems. Quote

liuzhou Posted September 21, 2012 at 03:48 PM Report Posted September 21, 2012 at 03:48 PM @ count_zero I think the OP wanted advice on importing multivitamins rather than a patronising critique of his or her lifestyle choices. Quote
count_zero Posted September 22, 2012 at 12:23 AM Report Posted September 22, 2012 at 12:23 AM It's not the lifestyle choice that's the problem - it's the destination! Anyway, you'll notice I gave some advice on where I think is the most trustworthy place in China to buy imported multivitamins. 1 Quote
