Daegu Posted October 5, 2012 at 12:07 PM Report Posted October 5, 2012 at 12:07 PM Hello I'm starting to listen mainland chinese music, especially folks, ballads, etc. And I have some questions, perplexities. 1. I realy like the girl voice from this song http://www.youtube.c...FI (from 0:45). In the title is written that she is Yao Beina, but i have reasons to belive that she is 索朗旺姆 Soinam Wangmo. Does anyone know who she is? I wish to find more songs of her. 2.What music genre is this: http://www.trilulilu...g-with-title-of http://www.trilulilu...itle-of-ci-tune http://www.trilulilu...-emporer-shun-s http://www.trilulilu...hoenix-platform http://www.trilulilu...g-with-title-of http://www.trilulilu...de-song-with-ti Is this a simple western opera music, or it is a separate chinese music genre? Where i can find more songs like this? 3. Does anyone know a (good) site (safe - virus free) from where i could download more (Mainland) chinese music,? Thank you Quote
count_zero Posted October 6, 2012 at 12:51 AM Report Posted October 6, 2012 at 12:51 AM I have that forth song from trilulilu on a CD "Chinese Music Hall: Qing Dynasty" The CD notes just describe the style as "folk". The notes specific to that song say that the lyrics were written by a poetess of the Song dynasty. That second one does sound like it's been influenced by western opera. But that might just be the modern performance - I don't know. Your best best for quality recordings would be to buy CDs in Beijing or get on Taobao. Quote

This site has the singer as 降央卓玛, and a google image search brings up faces that look similar to the person in the video, so that's another option. Quote
Daniel1944 Posted November 2, 2012 at 06:00 AM Report Posted November 2, 2012 at 06:00 AM Listen carefully. This is definitely Yao Beina. To contrast Yao Beina and Soinam Wangmo, find another Gangla Metok site where both sing the signature song. You can really tell the difference between their voices and styles. Quote
