Thomill Posted October 9, 2012 at 12:59 AM Report Posted October 9, 2012 at 12:59 AM Hello, I would like some help clarifying some examples from Rosetta Stone Level 4. They are: 你越野滑雪滑得开心吗?是,我越野滑雪滑得很开心。 你滑雪橇滑得开心吗?不,我滑雪橇滑得不开心。 First, is this how would you translate these? My thinking is: Your cross-country skiing is (was?) fun? Yes, my cross-country skiing is (was?) fun. Your sledding is (was?) fun? No, my sledding is (was?) not fun. In terms of grammar, though, I am confused. Are these just uses of complements of manner/state with the structural particle 得? If so, is that why the 滑 is repeated? Thank you. Quote
edelweis Posted October 9, 2012 at 06:56 PM Report Posted October 9, 2012 at 06:56 PM When there is a complement after the verb, the verb must be repeated before 得. 你写汉字写得很好。 When there is no complement after the verb, the verb does not need to be repeated: 事情进行得很好。 Quote
