New Members Noqa Posted October 9, 2012 at 09:32 PM New Members Report Posted October 9, 2012 at 09:32 PM Hey, I have this little problem I'm struggling with for some time. How do I make a chinese text look decent? http://postimage.org/image/iib26uklz/full/ This is how it looks right now - it's not so bad, but far from elegance of hanzi in print or on iPhone (and for what I remember - in certain PDFs). Font is somehow misfit - for this resolution it has way to much adornment, which end up looking messy (strangly looking kou and tu components, bigger hanzi like 墙壁 are far from pretty). Is there a way to make this pleasurable for the eye? I'm not concerned about web browser or something. Just give me any way to read longer fragments in decent rendering. Quote
imron Posted October 10, 2012 at 08:39 AM Report Posted October 10, 2012 at 08:39 AM It looks like a fairly typical Chinese font to me. How would you like it to look? 1 Quote
dwq Posted October 10, 2012 at 09:00 AM Report Posted October 10, 2012 at 09:00 AM How about a brush style font like KaiTi? You can see some examples here. http://www.cantonese.sheik.co.uk/phorum/read.php?14,92072,92072 Quote
Hofmann Posted October 10, 2012 at 07:43 PM Report Posted October 10, 2012 at 07:43 PM Maybe it's Cleartype. That particular font, Simsun, looks like crap with Cleartype. Better looking is Microsoft Yahei (not to mention that sans serif fonts tend to look better on screen anyway). Quote
