Thomill Posted October 11, 2012 at 08:00 PM Report Share Posted October 11, 2012 at 08:00 PM Hey, I am facing a solo three day road trip in a U-Haul. I would like to bring alone some Chinese language instruction along the way. I currently use Rosetta Stone (Level 4) and ChinesePod elementary/intermediate, and will be downloading some of the latter to be sure. Any other suggestions for listening during an extended and likely boring car trip? Thanks.
Adam_CLO Posted October 12, 2012 at 05:09 AM Report Share Posted October 12, 2012 at 05:09 AM You can try my podcast course. If you're looking for intermediate, I'd start with level 3: http://www.chineselearnonline.com/course-outline-level-3/ The lessons build off each other and get progressively more difficult, as they reuse vocabulary taught in earlier lessons. Click on the orange lesson number links to download free lessons individually, or you can purchase bulk access to all 60 lessons of a level for $20. edelweis Posted October 12, 2012 at 05:54 PM Report Share Posted October 12, 2012 at 05:54 PM How about the FSI "car" optional module? (你超速了,得罚款!) I'd use that time to sample various podcasts or soundtracks of various levels, examples: CSLpod, clavis sinica voices, slow chinese, Zhongwenred (green; blue), popup chinese, Chinese Stories Platform (warning: this one has a slight southern accent) And add basic textbook soundtracks (somewhat under my level) to make myself feel good about my learning without taking too much brain (borrow from library? well, if you're in a U-haul, you may not want to take the books with you...) Perhaps add Chinese songs also? Threads of interest: Chinese Podcasts (w/ transcripts?), Chinese language podcasts, Best of Chinese Study Tools, Studying Chinese Online and Off, Chinese Song of the Day (I'm not sure it is safe or possible to maintain your attention on Chinese podcasts during a long drive...)
