New Members Rafael S Posted October 18, 2012 at 04:38 AM New Members Report Posted October 18, 2012 at 04:38 AM Hey all. I am researching for mythology writers. We're currently doing a book on the Mythology of China, but I'm at a loss for Chinese myths. My goal here on te chinese forum is to gather Chinese myths from popular and academic sources. Where can I find them? Any papers? Any online books? I cannot read chinese, folks - but I am quite desperate for any useful myth of Chinese Gods and Myths (such as The Eight Immortals and etc). Thank you in advance for all who will help me now in this endeavour! Rafael S. Quote
xuexiansheng Posted October 18, 2012 at 05:24 PM Report Posted October 18, 2012 at 05:24 PM Try Chinese Mythology: An Introduction by Anne Birrell, The Johns Hopkins University Press 1993. Its an academic book with a good bibliography and would lead you to other resources in English. amazon link Good luck. Quote

New Members Rafael S Posted October 18, 2012 at 09:41 PM Author New Members Report Posted October 18, 2012 at 09:41 PM Thank you for appointing the book, xuexiansheng. Even though it proved not to be of easy flow (the "pandemia of academia" - though trustworthy in content, it's overly technical and devoid of linguistic flow and emotional force), searching for it gave me the breath of fresh air I actually needed. I've found what I was searching for, though I won't deny more useful sources. Again, thanks a bunch. Quote
