orentaub11 Posted October 29, 2012 at 12:02 PM Report Posted October 29, 2012 at 12:02 PM I want to alarm all the Chinese learners to stay away from the site globalchinese. here is what happened to me: I have purchased a self learning course they published in the site a sum of 120$.after paying the money I was supposed to get the courses materials.but instead I got a reply that because they cannot withdraw the money from paypal they suggest me to add 80$ and buy another course in which I had no interest,or have my money back.from then on they disappeared completely.all my messages to them were ignored completely.so they theft 120$ from me and intended to theif more.they are a bang of cheaters and be aware don't have any dealings with them. imron Posted October 29, 2012 at 12:29 PM Report Posted October 29, 2012 at 12:29 PM Can't you just ask for a refund from Paypal? (also, please don't post the same thing multiple times. Once is enough). Quote
roddy Posted October 30, 2012 at 03:26 PM Report Posted October 30, 2012 at 03:26 PM Paypal is unlikely to be interested as this is an intangible item. What's the actual url of the site you have a problem with? Quote
orentaub11 Posted October 30, 2012 at 03:39 PM Author Report Posted October 30, 2012 at 03:39 PM he url of them is: http://globalchinese.ucoz.com/index/self_study_chinese_course_material_subscription/0-10 Quote
imron Posted October 30, 2012 at 09:08 PM Report Posted October 30, 2012 at 09:08 PM Paypal is unlikely to be interested as this is an intangible item. The seller will still need to prove whether or not they sent the electronic items or if it was downloaded, and if they can't Paypal will return the money assuming it's within 45 days of purchase. mikeedward Posted October 31, 2012 at 10:57 AM Report Posted October 31, 2012 at 10:57 AM Definitely dispute it through Paypal. Include any correspondence emails as well. Should take a few days to resolve. I did this once when I sent an application fee to a crooked Chinese school agency. Got the refund fairly quickly. Quote
roddy Posted October 31, 2012 at 11:29 AM Report Posted October 31, 2012 at 11:29 AM I would have said this'll fall under Paypal's exemptions for downloads / services, but by all means give it a shot. That website looks bizarre, how did you find it? Quote
hans.castorp Posted October 31, 2012 at 10:05 PM Report Posted October 31, 2012 at 10:05 PM Yeah, seems really strange but typing "global chinese" in Google gives this url (3rd result). Quote
edelweis Posted November 1, 2012 at 07:33 AM Report Posted November 1, 2012 at 07:33 AM but where is the sample self-study material? why would one buy 120$ worth of their stuff without a preview? Also they have a link to the old HSK website and not the new one. Quote
