Grammar question: 你的名字是怎么取的 or ...取地？

On QQ one of my friends said:

你的名字是怎么取的？

Then he changed it to:

你的名字是怎么取地？

He claimed the latter is correct. I disagree. Who's right? I thought 地 is only used to create an adverb...

It should be 的.
