Although all characters and many words are real, grammatically it makes no sense to me, and the abundance of relatively rare characters like 哦 suggests that it's either a dialect or a botched-up translation from another language. Doesn't look like Classical Chinese either, as it's missing all the usual cues. Like renzhe and edelweis mentioned, it doesn't really make any sense so I can't help but wonder about the original source and if any errors have crept in in the process of getting it to your above post, or if perhaps it wasn't really Chinese to begin with but rather a non-native speaker's attempt to try and create something Chinese? Still bring/take out Russian spy. -- So, if this Chinese passage is important to what you are doing, you might want to speak with your professor because it's pretty clear that it's not any sort of Chinese that makes sense - just random things cobbled together, quite possibly as Renzhe mentioned above as the result of a botched translation from another language. The Chinese version you've presented makes no sense. It may have once been based on something that made sense once (e.g. see comments about botched translations or incorrect OCR) hence the occasional random word that contains some relevance, but what you posted above makes no sense and just reads like random words thrown together. Gibberish. You're unfamiliar with this forum, so of course you won't know this yet, but you have people in this thread with exceptionally high proficiency in Chinese, some of whom (I believe) work as professional translators, and we are all telling you that the text you copied and pasted into your post is nonsense. What we're trying to find out is if the original text is also nonsense or if there was something that went wrong somewhere along the line, so it would really help if you could post a screenshot of the original document you got it from. Any native speaker will likely confirm this. Since you're not studying Sinology, I assume that your professor doesn't speak Chinese either, so he might not be aware that it's not proper Chinese. Something went wrong with the text before he got it, likely an automated translation from another language into Chinese. Given the words that appear, it can't be about the Middle Ages. 解放 usually refers to the Revolution and liberation from Imperial Japan, Fo-Shan was not terribly important in the Middle Ages (but was in the last century), I'm pretty sure that Chinese and Russians didn't have much contact in the Middle Ages (but they certainly did in the 20th century) and 手机费 means "mobile phone fee". That could explain some of the terms (mobile phone fees) as there could be a reference to the modern era as well. Anyway, he said he never analyzed that part but now when I mentioned it to him, he wants me to give him the translation and explanation of the text and I'll get an additional A He also said that as far as he remembers, the whole document was indeed written in a dialect, but he couldn't tell which. If that is the case, then it means the original source material was at fault. Are you able to take a screenshot of the article as it appears on your computer so we can verify that the text you've entered is the same as the text from the article? If they are the same, then it would be probably be worth seeing if you can track down the original source and posting a picture of that, because as it stands, it makes no sense - it's just a jumble of random words. he wants me to give him the translation and explanation of the text and I'll get an additional A The Google translation I posted above is as accurate a translation as you're likely to get, and makes as much sense as the Chinese you posted.
