New Members osperson9 Posted November 12, 2012 at 04:08 PM New Members Report Posted November 12, 2012 at 04:08 PM How would I say "to win a prize" in a contest (competitive in nature)? Would 获胜奖 be fine? Quote
fanglu Posted November 12, 2012 at 10:54 PM Report Posted November 12, 2012 at 10:54 PM I think 获奖 is good. Quote
daofeishi Posted November 13, 2012 at 12:28 AM Report Posted November 13, 2012 at 12:28 AM 得奖/获奖/获得奖项 are acceptable. 获胜 is intransitive, so 获胜奖 is not a valid collocation. Quote

abcdefg Posted November 13, 2012 at 02:24 PM Report Posted November 13, 2012 at 02:24 PM My friends in mainland China talk about winning the lottery, or more accurately, hoping to win the lottery. They say 中彩 for winning and 中彩票 for the winning ticket. Pretty sure that's a special case and not an answer to the original question. Quote
New Members danchristopher Posted November 14, 2012 at 03:52 PM New Members Report Posted November 14, 2012 at 03:52 PM it depends on actual context. 在比赛中获奖 would be a choice. Quote

Yep, 中 (as in 中奖) is for being randomly selected as a winner in a lottery, lucky draw, raffle, etc. Quote
