semantic nuance Posted November 16, 2012 at 03:28 AM Report Share Posted November 16, 2012 at 03:28 AM 天時地利--> at the right time, in the right place, and you happen to meet the "right" one. 迷信 --> 對沒有根據的事信得一蹋糊塗 --> superstition So, got it now? Love is bullshit, sort of. This reminds me of a film 偶然與巧合 (Chances or Coincidences) I used to write a riddle about Love, 謎語詩: 愛情 忠誠 ------狗----------- 天長地久直到永遠 -------屁--------- 是條人人神往的祕徑 ------不通-----------
skylee Posted November 16, 2012 at 04:42 AM Report Share Posted November 16, 2012 at 04:42 AM 爱是天时地利的迷信 does not make sense IMHO. I think it is grammatically correct to say 愛是一種迷信 or 愛是對天時地利的迷信. But then the latter does not make sense either (a superstitious belief in all the favourable factors happening at the same time?). I think 天時地利 is not the right term to convey the author's idea.
Tiana Posted November 16, 2012 at 06:38 PM Report Share Posted November 16, 2012 at 06:38 PM I think 天時地利 is not the right term to convey the author's idea. What about putting elements from post #1 and post #2 together? Then we can have: 愛是天長地久的迷信 = Love is always a kind of superstition
