Vegemighty Posted November 18, 2012 at 02:48 AM Report Share Posted November 18, 2012 at 02:48 AM I'm using firefox, and for some reason, some characters don't look right. 直 for example has a line on the left 苹果 has the two strokes pointing out in it. I'm not sure if you're able to see those differences on your browser, but I can. Has anyone had this happen to them? And how can I fix it? renzhe Posted November 18, 2012 at 08:32 PM Report Share Posted November 18, 2012 at 08:32 PM It's a font issue. Often the same character can different appearance based on a standard (simplified, traditional, Japanese...) Some fonts have several of these per character and will let the application choose the correct one, but this does not always work. Installing some more fonts and playing with the font settings should resolve it.
OneEye Posted November 19, 2012 at 02:16 AM Report Share Posted November 19, 2012 at 02:16 AM Or you could just learn to recognize them. The same thing happens in books, newspapers, etc. There are variations in printed Chinese just like there are in the Latin alphabet, and learning to recognize them is a basic part of learning to read.
陳德聰 Posted November 20, 2012 at 04:13 PM Report Share Posted November 20, 2012 at 04:13 PM My fonts do the same thing, the only one that absolutely drives me nuts is how 门 appears.
