acatt Posted November 20, 2012 at 08:12 AM Report Share Posted November 20, 2012 at 08:12 AM With both HSK 6 and Advanced HSKK certificates finally in hand, I wanted to ask you guys what my chances are of getting into 北大? If you haven't read any of my previous posts, I graduated high school with an impressive 3.5 GPA (go ahead and laugh, it's supposed to be funny), but after joining the military I went through DLI (defense language institute) where I received an Associate's degree in Chinese and a pretty 4.0 GPA on my transcript. I now have a little over 3.5 years of work experience as a translator and am looking to apply to 北大. I have changed my mind countless times, but after doing more research on their literature department and curriculum I have decided this is the one for me. Out of curiosity, what are my chances of being picked up for the BA program in Chinese literature? Are there any more major steps outside of the HSK certs, gathering my high school transcripts, applying for scholarships through the various organizations (Confucius institute, CSC, etc.), obtaining supporting document for physical, and submitting my application package through CUCAS? I'm hoping that I'm finished with exams for now and don't require an entrance exam to be accepted into the university. I don't think there is, but cannot confirm this due to no one in china answering telephones. My top three choices will be 1.北大,2.清华,3.复旦。I realize these I probably the most difficult schools to get into in china, that's why I'm here before I get started on any paperwork. I would hate to not be accepted to any of these universities and miss out on a semester of study. If my chances are not so good, please let me know and I will adjust my choices accordingly. Thanks again everyone for sharing your wealth of knowledge. 祝好, Mike
acatt Posted November 21, 2012 at 11:05 PM Author Report Share Posted November 21, 2012 at 11:05 PM Not sure whether this applies to me or not, but I called the admissions office yesterday and was told that I will need to take an entrance exam (Chinese, Math, and English). Anyone have any experience with this? I hope to God this isn't the 高考! :O
