grawrt Posted December 8, 2012 at 04:22 PM Report Share Posted December 8, 2012 at 04:22 PM Hi I'm sorry its me again xD This week I joined lang-8 and have already made 2 entries so this isn't exactly a question on the mechanics of using lang-8. I was just curious how you guys go about using it. Like, do you implement grammar that you recently learned from a chapter? Or is it purely free-writing off the top of your head? Do you write it while looking at a text? I usually try and think of what I want to say and try my best to use the grammar thats in my head (which is pretty terrible). I found the corrections to be very useful especially regarding vocabulary choice, but also construction of sentences (like punctuations which kind of rattled me for one post especially). But I'm not sure if this is the best approach. I'm still very much a beginner so I dont expect instantaneous miracles in writing, but I didn't want to keep *waiting* until I was "good" enough. 大肚男 Posted December 8, 2012 at 08:01 PM Report Share Posted December 8, 2012 at 08:01 PM I usually do it as a stream of consciousness, to most approximate how I would say that to someone. Keep in mind that my motive for using Lang-8 is to meet language partners to chat with on Skype.
SinoDragon Posted February 24, 2014 at 02:55 AM Report Share Posted February 24, 2014 at 02:55 AM I think you are on the right path. Try to write one sentence a day, write whatever is on your mind, use a dictionary if necessary to pick up new words on the go. The goal is to be consistent, write something, however small bits, every day because there is no better way to learn Chinese through production and by making mistakes.
Tatarik Posted May 1, 2014 at 03:58 PM Report Share Posted May 1, 2014 at 03:58 PM Agree with SinoDragon. It's actually a great thing to have your text (however small) corrected by native speakers, and soemthing even better is that I usually have different propositions for a given sentence. People are super helpful, especially if you return the favor.
