Ejacoby79 Posted December 18, 2012 at 01:20 AM Report Posted December 18, 2012 at 01:20 AM Can anyone recommend a course that uses material catered around the BCT exam? This is not a very well known or often attended test from what I have gathered, but I find it to be much more applicable than the HSK and am planning to take the April reading and listening exam. Have not seen a whole lot of information out there so giving this a try. Much thanks, Ethan Quote
prateeksha Posted December 18, 2012 at 07:21 PM Report Posted December 18, 2012 at 07:21 PM I used this book to prepare for BCT. I did not opt for any coaching. I would suggest you can pick up a couple of question banks and mock papers like the one I mentioned, and coupled with your proficiency in the language, you will be good to go. There are also some books which target specifically at BCT vocabulary, you might want to take a look at them as well. I know several being published by 北语 press. Also, you might want to take a look at this review I did some months back. Any further queries are welcome! 2 Quote

thechamp Posted December 19, 2012 at 06:36 PM Report Posted December 19, 2012 at 06:36 PM No. Just no. This qualification is a nonsense. Everyone I know who's applied for jobs in HK or the mainland and mentioned Chinese on their CV has been tested at interview...and that includes HK returnees.....People taking this test need to ask themselves whether sitting an exam where there where questions like 'where is Mr Smith? A: He's upstairs B: He's writing an email C: He's making poopy' would be considered 'fluent English speakers' 1 Quote
Ejacoby79 Posted June 24, 2013 at 10:33 AM Author Report Posted June 24, 2013 at 10:33 AM Hey Champ, Just to dump a bit of fuel on your self-righteous or frustrated ? inferno. I did take the test with minimal outside help almost all self study. If you buy and invest time in the books and material you will learn a lot about logistics, Chinese contract process and negotiations. Not that I ever would work in such an arena again, but if you do dig deep, ready xinhua and take the time you will get something out of it. And no, I did not expect to get a job from it but it is a good way to help focus your studies. Quote
DanWang Posted February 17, 2014 at 05:50 AM Report Posted February 17, 2014 at 05:50 AM Does anyone know the difference between the Listening & Reading, Speaking & Writing Test and the BCT(A)? Which one is harder? I don't see why there needs to be two separate tests for business Chinese dtusents. Quote
