★學名：Dirofilaria immitis

★感染途徑：經由蚊子叮咬而傳播

★簡介：寄生在犬貓心臟和肺動脈的一種絲狀寄生蟲，在犬隻體內可存活5~7年。貓體內成蟲數目通常很少(平均約3隻)，存活約2年

★症狀：咳嗽、易喘、呼吸困難、無精打采、咳血、猝死

★影響：心絲蟲會嚴重損害犬隻心、肺和肝腎功能，患犬若未經治療甚至會死亡。因心絲蟲在貓體內較難繁殖，也很難檢測，但只要少量成蟲感染就會引起急性症狀致貓猝死
