how to use the word "yet"?

Hi, thanks for reading, I'm new here and glad I found this forum.

I have a crush on this girl, and I want to know how I can ask her "Are you single yet?" She told me she had a bf a while ago, but next time I see her I'd like to be able to ask her if she's single, "yet". I want to imply that I'm interested, and was before, therefore, "yet" is important to include. But is there a different way to express this in Mandarin? Thank you :)

You can use 了. It's like "now" (i.e. change from a previous state) as in "Are you single now?"

妳單身了嗎?

I don't know if 你单身了吗? captures the 'yet' emphasis the op wants. How about 你已经单身了没有?

Wow, thanks for the responses!

I asked the same question in another forum and was told that my question was uncommon for Chinese culture. I mean, the way it was asked. Apparently, 你和你的男朋友怎么样 is a better way to ask someone who is Chinese. Hmm, anyone here Chinese and agree? Well, thanks again :)

This is better, but it still depends on when you ask the question. It should be fine if you already get on well with the girl and casually slip the question in during a related conversation. My understanding is that in Chinese courtship, they'd try to show that they care but not through words, not initially anyway.

My understanding is that Chinese are much more open and upfront about this sort of thing, more so than westerners.
