Sneakiki Posted December 21, 2012 at 06:20 PM Report Share Posted December 21, 2012 at 06:20 PM My boyfriend has three adopted sisters from China, ages 7. For Christmas, I would like to make them bracelets with their names written in Chinese. Unfortunately, I'm having a hard time finding a credible website with accurate characters.Their names are Axi, Addixian, and Amberlie. If anyone could help me out with identifying the correct characters, I would appreciate it. Thank you!
renzhe Posted December 21, 2012 at 08:51 PM Report Share Posted December 21, 2012 at 08:51 PM Are these names written exactly this way? The first one could be a Chinese name written using the pinyin romanisation, the second one looks strange, but could be a misspelling, while the third one does not sound Chinese at all. There are several things that might have gone wrong: It could be a spelling error which occurred at some point by a non-Chinese, the names could be using a dialectal pronunciation (and thus improvised transliteration), maybe the names were written down by a non-Chinese person who was told the names but didn't know how to write them, or they could be given to them by a non-Chinese (Amberlie in particular sounds American and not Chinese at all). Do you have access to their birth certificates, travel permits, or anything else from China? Even with correct romanisation, the mapping to characters is usually not unique, so getting an official document with Chinese characters on it is the only way to be sure!
