New Members Floranora Posted December 24, 2012 at 08:53 PM New Members Report Share Posted December 24, 2012 at 08:53 PM Hi everyone I would like to make a tattoo with a phrase in chinese characters. Does anyone has a good translation for the following sentence? -In the end everything will be fine, if not, it's not the end. I already have that: 一切都会好起来。如果没有,只是没到时候 But maybe there is something more beautiful and shorter? Thank you very much.
Shelley Posted December 24, 2012 at 10:17 PM Report Share Posted December 24, 2012 at 10:17 PM Hi I am guessing that english is not your first language. If you want the people around you to be able read and learn from your tattoo, why not have it in a language that they will be able to read. Having a tattoo in Chinese characters does not impart any kind of magic or special power to the words. I agree that characters are beautiful but if you don't know what it means it doesn't really matter. You should be careful of asking the advice of the internet. (This forum is an exception usually, people here tend to be helpful and kind) Tattoo artist are usually not Chinese language experts, so beware. the charts on the walls are usually not anything to do with actual Chinese characters. Remember if you are thinking of a tattoo - think once, think twice, and then think some more. A tattoo is for life not just Christmas:) Your choice of sentence is very long, you may want to go look at a website with Chinese proverbs and see if one of those fits what you want to say. They are usually only 4 characters long. Good luck with your choice, but i hope you really think about it.

New Members Floranora Posted December 25, 2012 at 03:24 PM Author New Members Report Share Posted December 25, 2012 at 03:24 PM Thank you both for your reply no English is not my native language. The reason why I want it in chinese is because I was living in China for a long time, I study Chinese. Also I don't want every random stranger to be able to read my tattoo. The Chinese characters are also just a small part of the whole tattoo. And I will of course think a lot about it before I do it thanks for the tip! lingo-ling Posted January 10, 2013 at 06:14 PM Report Share Posted January 10, 2013 at 06:14 PM I would highly recommend using traditional Chinese characters for tattoos, rather than simplified. There's more artistry to the traditional forms.
