roddy Posted December 30, 2012 at 01:41 PM Report Posted December 30, 2012 at 01:41 PM Personally, for that length of time I'd either negotiate a deal on a hotel, or look for a serviced apartment. If you're seeing cheap monthly rents in Harbin, bear in mind those are almost certainly for year long leases and you're going to struggle to match those prices for seven weeks. You might get lucky and find a landlord willing to do it at a reasonable premium, but I think it's much more likely you spend a week or two trudging around in the cold trying to sort it out and then end up in a hotel anyway. The university dorms might let you in early if they have a spare room. Quote
WestTexas Posted December 30, 2012 at 02:14 PM Report Posted December 30, 2012 at 02:14 PM There are hostels in Harbin if that's your thing. If not, you could probably find a cheap hotel away from the city center for 50-100 a night, assuming your Chinese is good enough. Don't expect anything lavish, though. Quote
stoney Posted December 30, 2012 at 02:25 PM Report Posted December 30, 2012 at 02:25 PM What prices are they quoting you? Quote
giusi Posted December 30, 2012 at 02:37 PM Author Report Posted December 30, 2012 at 02:37 PM For the accommodation is about 900 US dollars for 7 weeks (for a basic place from what I read in the reviews)... I suppose it is not bad for a short let.... I am just trying to save as much as I can... thank you for your help G Quote
roddy Posted December 30, 2012 at 10:39 PM Report Posted December 30, 2012 at 10:39 PM I don't really know anything about prices in Harbin, but to be honest that seems about right for short-term accommodation in a provincial capital. Depends a lot on what the place is actually like, of course. Quote
stoney Posted December 31, 2012 at 03:20 AM Report Posted December 31, 2012 at 03:20 AM Yea, It actually sounds very reasonable to me, especially if it's close to your school. Quote

abcdefg Posted December 31, 2012 at 12:16 PM Report Posted December 31, 2012 at 12:16 PM I stayed in one of their furnshed flats (Summer 2008) and it was really pretty nice. Convenient, modern, with a view of the Songhua River. Near a shopping center, restaruants, gym and cinema. Quote
laowang Posted January 2, 2013 at 05:28 AM Report Posted January 2, 2013 at 05:28 AM For a serviced flat, it will cost from 80 rmb to 200 rmb per day. There are are some more serviced flats in the same building with Mandarin Workshop and around it. There are four tall buildings around it. If you are not so picky guy, 100 rmb per day serviced flat will do. Quote
