Looking for Mandarin Dubbed Films

Hi,

I know about the options to buy them from Online stores- but I live in China, so that isn't an option for me.

There is an old post from about 2 years ago that talks a good amount about where to download mandarin dubbed / Chinese dubbed films at this link: http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/topic/27140-western-movies-with-chinese-audio/

However, it seems they are a little outdated methods. I'm not sure if I'm just looking in the wrong place or what, but I can't figure out how to download ANYTHING from VeryCD. Seems like it has changed a little bit since 2 years ago.

国语配音 - which is apparently the search term for Mandarin Dubb - Is what I'm searching for, and DualAudio... I'm coming up empty-handed. Does anyone know how to find what I'm looking for?

I'm maybe missing something, but what about your local DVD shop or Amazon.cn?

Yeah, I'll give it a shot. I'm wondering if those will have mandarin subtitles though? I'm in a smaller city, so I'm not sure they'll have what I'm looking for.

Still looking for a place to download them, though. VeryCD isn't the same as it use to be

If I do a Baidu video search for a western movie http://video.baidu.com/ I quite often end up finding something that's been dubbed over in Mandarin.

Seems strange that to me this is an annoyance but for you it's something you are struggling to find...

Are you looking to download them, or just watch them? If the latter, http://tv.sohu.com/movie/ has a wide selection of ad-supported movies available for free streaming/watching.

Sorry to reply so late.

I've been looking for downloadable material, specifically movies with soft subtitles that can be stripped. I've wanted them for study purposes...

I asked my students (I'm an ESL teacher in China) if they had any idea where I could find something like this, and one of them actually helped me find the Toy Story series. Its been pretty cool, but I'm finding that the words that the characters say don't always match the subtitles... which is frustrating. The movies can be downloaded through Xunlei, but you have to know which websites to use... and I'm not sure which ones he used.

I tried to attach the bitTorrent he sent me, but I got an error.

Anyways, he said he searched for "玩具总动员国语" on Baidu and was able to find it fairly easily. I suppose if you search for specific movies rather than just search "国语" like I was doing, you'll have better luck.

That reminds me of the latest 007 James Bond movie Skyfall I downloaded a few weeks back.

They said the film didn't come out in China until yesterday...the day before?

The news media said a scene was cut out for the Chinese distribution.

And some dialogue was changed.

Bits having to do with the girl having been turned into a prostitue while a teen or something. And the villain having once been in Chinese custody.

Scenes were filmed and/or set in Shanghai and Macau.

I was going to post about it in the thread "last Chinese film saw" but thought better of it.

Anyway, the copy I downloaded was fan-subbed so the scene wasn't edited out and the dialogue closely follows the English. Of course, if there were errors in the Chinese I wouldn't be able to tell unless it was especially telling.

I found it quite interesting that the film has the "FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION" bit to it.

It means that a member of the Academy must have been the source of the pirate copy.

Or a guy in the mail room charged with mailing out the copies. Or any of a dozen or so people in the supply chain.

When awards season rolls around, the film studios send out copies of films that they think will be eligible for Oscar awards to voting members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in hopes that they will like it enough to vote it an Oscar.

When I used to live in an apartment in the city of Los Angeles, I'd find stacks of DVDs stamped with the same thing in the laundry room that others would leave in the reading material rack.

I also heard that they now embed unique signatures within the prints so that they can trace the source. Don't know how that works or if they caught the guy.

I'm amazed at how so many Hollywood blockbusters are out in pirate copies long before they even reach the theaters for their premiere.

Hi if you want to download Mandarin dubbed films, you can check some Chinese video sites like Aiqiyi and Tencent Video. I believe they provide Chinese dub for many foreign movies and you can shift the language as you like.
