Daegu Posted January 4, 2013 at 06:39 AM Report Posted January 4, 2013 at 06:39 AM Hello I just discovered some great mainland chinese singers, like Gong Yue, Jia Fei Jia Er, Miao Miao, Yang Man Li, etc. I saw in theirs albums and songs, titles like Red Folk Songs. I don't know chinese, i don't even understand the words, but i wish to know, are these songs like a communist propaganda (red = communism color) or are just folk songs for celebrations? i know that red is the colour for joy, happiness in chinese culture. Are there still propaganda folk songs in mainland chinese entertainment? I know that this is not a topic that is easily discussed, but living in a former communist country, i can't stop to thinking about this thing. Otherwise, Mainland china have great and talented artists, too bad that they are not more known outside china/asia Quote
abcdefg Posted January 5, 2013 at 04:30 AM Report Posted January 5, 2013 at 04:30 AM Are there still propaganda folk songs in mainland chinese entertainment? Yes, quite a few. You can't go long here on the mainland without hearing at least a chorus or two of 学习雷锋 ("Study the example of Lei Feng.") Quote
