unvoicing of vowels in shanghainese?

Recommended Posts

Has anybody checked the recorded lessons at zanhe.com? in lesson one, when you listen to the dialogues and exercises, do you hear any vowels becoming voiceless? for example in:

dusikeu (library), the i is barely audible for me.

síti (bookshop), again I'm under the impression the first í is unvoiced

losi (teacher), same thing

it's be interesting, because along with the pronounciation of "l" as "r", the unvoicing of vowels would make it even more Japanese-like! like in Japanese nomimashita (drank), where the ending is practically "shta".
