James Garrison Posted January 27, 2013 at 03:31 AM Report Posted January 27, 2013 at 03:31 AM Hi, I am in Shanghai and have decided (for the moment at least) to forego schools and employ a private teacher. I have studied Chinese before (at Donghua uni) and would like something a little more intense and personalized, so I have decided to offer to pay someone to teach me 12-15 hours a week. I have a fair idea about a curriculum and book to use, as I am a language teacher in the US, but I would like to know some good websites to find Chinese who would like to teach me. So: websites? would it be okay to offer 2 people 700 - 800 RMB (each) for what is essentially a very short part-time job? Any ideas about interesting things others have done in private classes? Listening to CD's is not useful for classtime, and I like chatting, telling stories, reading and discussing news articles, role play etc. Cheers, J Quote
icebear Posted January 27, 2013 at 05:43 AM Report Posted January 27, 2013 at 05:43 AM http://www.movingmandarin.com/ These are the folks I use in Beijing. Pros - they come to you, good teachers, great rates if you are willing to prepay a lump of classes, give a fapiao. Cons - need to prepay a big lump for the best rate (but worth it, in my opinion).
