skylee Posted February 8, 2013 at 05:39 AM Report Posted February 8, 2013 at 05:39 AM Shall we share information on temporary / permanent exhibitons that are worth seeing in China / Taiwan / Hong Kong /Macao? I am going to spend a few days during the Chinese new year holidays in Taipei, and I plan to go to this exhibition -> 普立茲新聞攝影獎70年大展 (Capture the Moment-The Pulitzer Prize Photographs) I've heard that this exhibition is very well received. Do you have info on nice exhibitions to share? Quote
skylee Posted March 31, 2013 at 11:14 PM Author Report Posted March 31, 2013 at 11:14 PM I visited the National Museum of China next to Tiananmen Square in the past two days. IIRC I had not been there in previous trips. It is a huge new museum. I spent the first day at the 復興之路 exhibition and the Ancient China exhibition. The 復興之路 exhibition is mildly interesting, but is only good for those interested in modern Chinese history. I find the perspective interesting. The Ancient China exhibition is superb (although I don't appreciate the display of replicas). Don't miss it. People who like The National Palace Museum in Taipei and the great museums like the Louvre and the British Museum will like it. I went there again yesterday for the temporary exhibition of art pieces from the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art. This exhibition is ok, with Van gogh, Rambrant, Edward Hopper, etc. There is also an exhibtion of Italian arts as well as other permanent exhitions but I didn't have time for them. The permanent exhibition is free of charge. Some temporary exhibitions are not. Quote
skylee Posted January 2, 2014 at 02:43 PM Author Report Posted January 2, 2014 at 02:43 PM There is a Botticelli exhibition going on at the MGM Art Space in Macau. There seems to be at least one great painting by Botticelli from the Uffizi, so it might be worth a visit for people who are or will be in Macau. The exhibition will last till mid-February 2014 and is free of charge. [Free of charge does not sound right ... makes me doubt what are in the exhibition ...] Botticelli’s Venus makes public debut in Macau -> http://www.macaudailytimes.com.mo/macau/49417-botticelli%E2%80%99s-venus-makes-public-debut-in-macau.html Quote
