thats_mandarin Posted February 21, 2013 at 09:44 AM Report Posted February 21, 2013 at 09:44 AM That’s Mandarin is a Chinese language school with campuses in Beijing and in Shanghai. We have grown considerably since 2005 when the school was founded, and now offer an extensive range of Chinese language courses, annual Chinese Summer Camp programs, regular Cultural Activities and our own online learning platform – Mandarin Café. That’s Mandarin’s number one priority is to provide each student with the skills and confidence they need to be able to use what they learn in the classroom in day-to-day life. Our language programs are tailor-made to fit the individual needs of our students. We provide 1-on-1 Chinese tuition, and Small Group programs on both a part-time and intensive basis. Many of our students are already based in China, and fit their classes around their work schedules. However we also have students that come to Beijing or Shanghai to study Chinese intensively, and in this case we offer extensive accommodation options including homestays with Chinese families, shared apartments and private studio apartments. Our schools are based in the centre of each city, allowing ample opportunity for exploration, social interaction and cultural experience. Our unique teaching methodologies include the Story Telling method, the Linked-Word method and the Mandarin Café. Through our Story Telling method students encounter new grammar and vocabulary through stories in video or text format, and are then asked to narrate the story in their own words, in turn improving fluency. The Linked-Word method teaches students to understand and remember new vocabulary by linking new characters with characters they have already learnt. This visual learning method proves popular with many students, and assists intermediate and advanced learners with learning new vocabulary quickly. Each of our students have access to their own Mandarin Café account, where they can access every word they have learnt so far and revise each grammar structure they have encountered. Every class our teachers upload their lesson onto this integrated learning platform, meaning our students do not waste valuable class time taking notes. Our Chinese Summer Camp programs and regular Cultural Activities provide our students with the chance to use their Chinese in a fun, relaxed and social environment. All of our activities are Chinese-language and culture based, promoting the benefit of studying language through culture. Our Cultural Activities include learning to play Chinese Chess, Chinese Dumpling Parties, and Survival Chinese language workshops. Our Chinese Summer Camp programs run from June to August each year and can be taken on a full time or part-time basis, it are open to students aged 7-17. roddy Posted March 7, 2013 at 10:35 AM Report Posted March 7, 2013 at 10:35 AM Schools are welcome to post about what they do, within limits. I'm trying to shift towards having one topic for each school where they can post updates and so on. The prose is a bit breathless, but That Mandarin are pretty well established. Quote

thats_mandarin Posted January 12, 2015 at 01:58 AM Author Report Posted January 12, 2015 at 01:58 AM What’s been going on at That’s Mandarin since our last post? Since our last post in 2013, That’s Mandarin has continued to grow from strength to strength; with our schools in Beijing and Shanghai now welcoming over 3000 students every year. We currently have plans to expand to more cities around China in the near future, as well as opening new locations in Beijing and Shanghai. Not only has That’s Mandarin been growing quickly, we have also been busy designing and developing 2 new websites – one for the That’s Mandarin schools and one for our ever-popular annual Summer Chinese Camps for kids and teens aged 7-17. These websites are already available in a variety of languages with more versions in the pipeline. Along with our new websites, we have also been listening to our students and have rolled out a new and improved Mandarin Café (our own in-house Chinese learning platform, available free to all That’s Mandarin students, past and present). We are continuing to provide a wide range of Chinese learning options for all levels; including Survival Chinese and Business Chinese Programs. As well as developing a variety of course options; we have just launched a special discount deal on our new starter package of 21 1-on-1 classes for new students, in order to offer those who wish to try That’s Mandarin, a low-cost option. We also still hold weekly cultural activities at our schools, which continue to be popular with students both past and present. In an aim to provide the best level of service possible to That’s Mandarin students, we continue to offer airport pick-up and drop-off, as well as a variety of accommodation options; to those travelling to China to study with us. On top of this, we now also offer visa assistance to students wishing to study with us for longer than 3 months, ensuring that they can obtain an X2 short-term study visa. So, as you can see, the past couple of years have been a pretty busy time for us. We hope we can carry this momentum forward for the next two years and beyond, while still sticking to our guiding principle of providing high-quality Chinese learning experiences to all our students. If you would like more information about That’s Mandarin and the programs and services we offer, check out our website. Quote
James3 Posted January 13, 2015 at 12:39 AM Report Posted January 13, 2015 at 12:39 AM I have read a few posts regarding people wanting to study at a private school, but they have many questions regarding visa issues. I imagine by adding a service to help students get X2 visas, you will meet a big need. This could possibly help you get more students! :-) Good luck! 1 Quote
