Chinese > English meaning check

Hi,

I'm currently in the process of designing a personal logo for use with my studies and came across an explanation of a set of Chinese symbols whose meaning is perfect for the task. I want to include this as a part of the whole logo and will be taking similar symbols from a range of cultures as it is relevant. However, I don't read Chinese so want to check if the described meaning is accurate. I would really appreciate the help of some more knowledgeable people with this!

Attached is the image with the Chinese characters. This is what is written on the site I got this from (http://portals.wi.wur.nl/forestpolicy/?page=1489):

These Chinese characters represent the word “learning.” The first character means to study. It is composed of two parts: a symbol that means “to accumulate knowledge” above a symbol for a child in a doorway. The second character means to practice constantly, and it shows a bird developing the ability to leave the nest. The upper symbol represents flying; the lower symbol, youth. For the oriental mind, learning is on-going. “Study” and “practice constantly” together, suggest that learning should mean: “mastery of the way of self-improvement”.

(from: Senge, 1994 )

Is this accurate, and are there any other interpretations you would make from it?

Thanks!

The chinese for learn is xue 学 and for practice it is lian xi 练习.

To the best of my knowledge this is not chinese

I think you should stick to a language you know, you can be sure then of getting it right.

If you have a message you wish to put across in this logo thingy, then you should pick a language the majority of the people who will see it will understand it.

Yes, this is a highly stylized version of 學習. But it is so highly stylized that many people won't have any clue that it's Chinese, or what it means even if you tell them that it's Chinese.

Basically it's the word "to study" written in a wacko font.
