Andrea.dispe Posted February 24, 2013 at 01:51 PM Report Share Posted February 24, 2013 at 01:51 PM Hi all, I got a problem, at least is for me, with my chinese connection....it is TOO slooooooow. Using a top-link router wireless or through cable doesn't change the fact that is really slow. Do you know if there is some setting to fix to speed it up? ChTTay Posted February 25, 2013 at 11:53 AM Report Share Posted February 25, 2013 at 11:53 AM What speed are you actually paying for? It can range from 2 to 15 where I live but some might provide 20. You can then do a speed test online. Plug into your router/modem with a ethernet cable, then find a speed test by searching on google. Test your speed and see what you actually get. You could go to the internet provider and complain that its very slow. Even in the UK i wouldnt expect much help so im not sure what kind of response you would get. Another couple of things... is your router secured with a "good" password? (Numbers, letters, symbols if allowed) . If it isn't secured at all then anyone could use your connection. Are you torrenting/downloading or could anyone else in your apartment? This can slow things right down. If they are, grt them to do it at night or limit the bandwidth being used. Are all websites slow? Including Chinese and Foreign? Chinese sites tend to load a lot quicker for me and some foreign based ones hang for a long time. This can be a big problem. The flashcard testing website skritter have a Chinese domain just to get around. There might be some tweaks you can do with your router but i dont know them. Id guess that the router settings aren't the main ptoblem.
